Xiaomi has just launched a new e-reader, called Mi Reader Pro. It’s a huge upgrade over the initial Mi Reader and looks like a direct competitor to Amazon Kindle Oasis, the Paperwhite’s big brother.
The new player features a large display, numerous screen customizations and voice search for faster title entry.
The display is 7.8 “diagonally with e-ink screen and 330 ppi pixel density. The screen illumination LED has 24-level adjustable brightness and the ability to change the color tone from warm to cool. depending on the surrounding environment, allowing for a more comfortable reading experience.
Inside is 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, quad-core CPU, and Android Oreo 8.1 based UI. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and the player supports local Chinese platforms like Baidu and WeChat Reading. Xiaomi has implemented some of its Xiao AI voice features to deliver a smoother and faster browsing experience on the Mi Reader Pro.
Books can be transferred from a phone if both devices are in the same wireless network and it supports all known file formats such as .txt, .epub, .pdf and even Microsoft Office documents. The internal battery is 3,200mAh, allowing for up to 70 days of standby time.

The Xiaomi Mi Reader Pro only comes in black and officially costs CNY 1,299, but the first sale starts at CNY 1,099, which is around $ 165 / € 140. So far, the reader can only be bought in China, but hopefully it will appear. abroad as it looks like a really tempting offer.
