Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad made a big announcement on Tuesday when it named former Australian cricketer and acclaimed head coach Tom Moody as cricket director. It’s a quick return to the SRH camp for the Australian who previously served as the franchise’s coach for 7 seasons, taking him to the title in 2016 and leading the team to the final in 2018.
The franchise took to Twitter to make the announcement and wrote, “@TomMoodyCricket has been appointed director of cricket for SunRisers Hyderabad. #OrangeArmy #KeepRising “.
SRH named England’s ICC World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss as head coach after Moody lowered the curtain on his stint with SRH after the 2019 tournament.
Upon leaving the SRH coaching role, Moody tweeted: “It has been a privilege to work for SunRisers Hyderabad, I have made many friends and good memories. The success we have achieved over the past 7 years is a testament to a team that works hard on and off the pitch. Special thanks to the players, the support staff and all the fans. ”
Under Bayliss the team reached IPL knockouts earlier this season. Bayliss is a two IPL-winning coach, having led Kolkata Knight Riders to the title in 2012 and 2014.
This is a great addition to SRH’s already brilliant behind-the-scenes staff ahead of the 2021 IPL.
