The Galaxy S21 will arrive in January with S Pen support, Samsung confirms

The race has started for the OEM who will be the first to launch a flagship with the Snapdragon 888. Xiaomi had previously hinted that it would be the first to launch a phone with Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip. The race is apparently for the quick as Samsung has also hinted that it will announce the Galaxy S21 in January 2021. This has just been confirmed by TM Roh, president and head of Samsung’s mobile division.

The head of the Samsung mobile division wrote a blog post that, among other things, admired what the company accomplished in 2020. It also rolled out the tech giant’s plans for next year. In addition to the launch date of the Galaxy S21, the Samsung boss has also confirmed that the device will come with S Pen support, something that has been associated with the Note series in the past.

“Thanks to everyone who supported us in 2020. I can’t wait to share more in January!” concludes the post, shortly after this promise: “We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are thrilled to add some of its most loved features to other devices in our range.”

While support for the S Pen will be one of the features, it will most likely be limited to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung could also extend it to the foldable Galaxy Z series, but this has not been stated.

Additionally, Roh revealed that the company will be expanding its foldable smartphone portfolio as the Note series will be rested. He hinted that foldables will become more accessible, which seems to confirm rumors that there will be four Galaxy Z foldable smartphones next year.S Pen for Samsung Galaxy S21

“Be on the hunt for pro-grade, super-smart video and camera capabilities in 2021,” added Roh. The Galaxy S21 Ultra is rumored to use a new generation 108MP main sensor and will have a periscope zoom capability of up to 10x.

“It’s going to be an epic new year,” says Roh.
