New Delhi. The biggest match of 2020 between India and Australia Australia is now just one day away. Both teams will play the first Test match (Adelaide Test) of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide from December 17. This test match will be day-night and will use a pink ball. The Indian team will play a match with Pink Ball abroad for the first time. Australia has played seven Tests with the Pink Ball and won each time. In such a situation, Indian players, especially batsmen, will be subjected to a rigorous examination. The biggest batsman will be at the opener, whose selection will prove to be nothing more than a headache for Indian captain Virat Kohli.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected an 18-member squad for the Test series against Australia. There are five players who have played as openers at one time or another. These players are Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Hanuma Vihari. What is special is that neither of these batsmen can be said to be in excellent form nor can they be called out of form. One term often used in sports – ‘good headache’ means good headache. Virat would have had a similar headache before the Test match.

Mayank Agarwal confirmed the play

Out of these five players, only Mayank Agarwal is sure to play. Mayank was also included in the ODI and T20 teams. He played the first two ODIs and also made a good start. However, he could not extend his innings. He has scored half a century in the second practice match. In such a case, one end of the opening is certain to be assigned to them. Also read: IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli was brazen for breaking Ricky Ponting’s world record, Adelaide will witness!

Earth show in extreme aggression

Prithvi Shaw is considered to be an aggressive batsman of Virender Sehwag style. But recently, it has been seen that they are losing sharp wickets. Sunil Gavaskar says Shaw plays more shots early and that is a big reason for him to lose his wicket.

3 contenders for the second opener

There are 3 contenders for the second opener in the form of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari. Of these, Gill’s playing suit seems even stronger. They are found in good rhythm. His 5 scores on the Australia tour are 33, 0, 29, 43, 65. Alan Border has also backed Gill’s claim. Gavaskar also says that it would be appropriate to open with Mayank and Gill in the first Test.

KL and Vihari claim to be weak

KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari could also be substitutes. But team management probably wants to try both of these in the middle order. Perhaps this is the reason why KL was not tried in a practice match. Vihari opened on his last tour of Australia. They also do useful sp fuspin bowling. In such a situation, he is likely to be selected for the sixth position. Australia will not choose to experiment further with Vihari in their day-night Test against Australia.
