Former India fast bowler S Sreesanth is close to returning to competitive cricket after a long absence. He has been included in the list of 26 players from Kerala for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.
Sreesanth was banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for match-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In addition to the 37-year-old, Kerala’s list of prospects announced on Tuesday includes Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Robin Uthappa and Basil Thampi.
Sreesanth’s ban expired in September this year. According to sources, he will participate in the team camp to be held from December 20 to 30. Earlier, he was selected for the team in the T20 series organized by the Kerala Cricket Association.
He last represented the Indian team in 2011. He was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.
