Okinawa’s new B2B electric scooter will come before the Oki100 e-bike

Okinawa Autotech, based in Gurugram, is set to kick off 2021 with the launch of a B2B electric scooter that is expected to arrive in the first quarter of next year, the company exclusively told HT Auto in a recent interaction.

The new electric scooter will be distributed for commercial applications and at the same time will also be launched for private owners. While the details are still hidden for the time, the company said the next electric scooter will be based on existing technology but will be custom built to meet commercial purpose requirements according to market demand. It will also benefit from a sturdy frame to support luggage carrying tasks. The scooter will most likely take on the likes of the Hero Electric Nyx range which also targets a similar audience range.

Electric two-wheelers are experiencing an increase in demand, especially in commercial delivery applications. While regular battery-powered scooters focus more on performance, design and driveability, the commercial offering prioritizes low acquisition and operating costs, long range and high payload capacity.

Additionally, Okinawa is also planning to introduce new offerings including the Oki100 electric motorcycle and the Okinawa Cruiser electric maxi scooter. While the first was to be launched in the third quarter of fiscal year 2020-21, plans have been delayed and are now rumored to arrive in the first quarter of 2021, after the company finishes launching its B2B-focused electric scooter. .
