NZ vs PAK 1st T20 Live Results UPDATES: New Zealand locks the horns against a recovering Pakistan – The first T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan will take place at Eden Park on Friday. Kiwis enter this series in the wake of an incredible series victory against the world champions of the West Indies. Pakistan will start its campaign under new captain Shadab Khan.

Pakistan, on the other hand, have had a tough time in New Zealand so far, and they still have only one game to play against the hosts. The biggest concern would be the absence of Babar Azam, who was excluded from the T20I series. But this opens up an opportunity for Haider Ali and Mohammad Rizwan, who could be vital against the New Zealand bowling attack.

Despite resting Kiwis Kane Williamson and Trent Boult, the likes of Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner have been unstoppable.

Now preparations continue for the next T20 World Cup. Some new additions have been made back to the Kiwi roster with Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy likely to be featured in the bowling bout. New Zealand also have a solid batting unit that will give them confidence ahead of this match.

While both teams have a good mix of youngsters and experience in their ranks, New Zealand will start as favorites. However, you never know with Pakistanis, given their ability to surprise in this format. All in all, a fun cricket match nods to Eden Park, with both teams looking to land the first shot in this series.

Pakistan hit by a wave of injuries

Pakistan was hit by a severe wave of injuries. First, Fakhar Zaman was unable to board the flight to New Zealand as he showed symptoms of COVID-19 despite returning a negative test. Imam-ul-Haq, who was supposed to take his place at the top of the order, then fractured his left thumb.

A few days before the start of this series, it was a big shock for Pakistan when skipper Babar Azam was excluded from the T20I series after injuring his right thumb. The injury was reported during a throwing session and X-rays confirmed a fracture that excluded Azam from the T20I series and also questioned him for testing.

If that’s not enough, vice-captain and leg spin bowling handyman Shadab Khan also has a groin problem. After initially attending the net sessions as a hitter only, Shadab has started bowling and is likely to lead the team.

Speaking of bowling attacks, Pakistani trio Wahab Riaz, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf would be the key to their fortunes on the courts that should suit them throughout the series.

Big names missing from Kiwi XI

With their second test match against the West Indies scheduled to end just three days before the start of this T20I series, New Zealand rested Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson and Daryl Mitchell from 1st T20I. In addition to Williamson, the missing players will join the squad for the final two T20Is.

In addition to these players, New Zealand will lose the services of Lockie Ferguson, who was on a roll in the T20Is against the West Indies, while also picking up a 5 wicket radius, after suffering a stress fracture. Hamish Bennett is also not part of the team due to an injury.
