Bhubaneswar: LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) is the proud recipient of the prestigious ‘The Greenberg Prize – End Blindness 2020’. The winners were chosen based on the strength of their contributions to eliminate blindness. Dr. Gullapalli N Rao, founder and president, LV Prasad Eye Institute received this award in the “Outstanding Achievement Prize” category. LVPEI shares the prize and $ 3 Million with another organization in India.
“I feel honored and honored to accept this prestigious award on behalf of over 3,000 members of the LV Prasad Eye Institute and its many supporters globally. Eliminating avoidable blindness by 2020 has been an aspiration of the global eye care community for over two decades. I want to record our gratitude to the Sanford and Susan Greenberg End Blindness Foundation for acknowledging our contribution, ”said an enthusiastic Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder-Chair, LV Prasad Eye Institute.

“End Blindness” was a movement to eradicate blindness created by Dr. Sanford Greenberg, who had lost his eyes at 19 his age, and his wife Susan. It was announced in 2012 to recognize the work of the scientific and medical communities that pioneered the fight to end blindness between then and 2020.
