CPI (M) ‘s Arya Rajendran, who won the Kerala by-election from Thiruvananthapuram, has been elected as the mayor of Thiruvananthapuram. Arya, 21, will become the youngest mayor of the country with one post. He holds a B.Sc. Did not complete the study. They are in their second year.
Arya was also the youngest candidate in the body election. He defeated Srikala of UDF by 2872 votes. The CPI (M) says we want to give more participation to educated women in our leadership. The CPI (M) has won 51 seats with 100 members in the Thiruvananthapuram municipal elections. The BJP is the main opposition party here. He has 35 seats in his account. The Congress-led UDF has won 10 seats in these elections. 4 Independents have won.
People chose me because I am a student – Arya
“This is a decision of the party and I will abide by it,” Arya said. People preferred me during the election, because I am a student. People want their representative to study. I will complete my studies and also fulfill my responsibilities as mayor. Arya’s father is an electrician and her mother is an LIC agent.
Selection of some candidates
In the by-elections, the CPI (M) defeated Pushpala, former chairperson of the Health Standing Committee, and A.G. Olena and Jamila introduced Sreedharan as mayor. Pushpala and Olena could not win the election. Jamila Sreedharan has retired from government service. Also in the running was the name of 23-year-old Gayatribabu, who became a councilor for the first time from the Vanchiyur division. Instead, the party has chosen Arya as mayor.
