New Zealand captain Kane Williamson spoke on social media on Wednesday to announce the arrival of a baby girl in his family. Williamson shared a photo of himself holding his newborn on Instagram. “Delighted to welcome a beautiful little girl into our family,” the New Zealand skipper captioned the post. Immediately after Williamson shared the news, current and former cricketers flooded the comments section with congratulatory messages.
India captain Virat Kohli, who in turn will become a father, guides the wishes of the cricket fraternity.
“Congratulations to both of you for this blessing in your lives. So much love from us for you,” wrote Kohli.
Indian Premier League teammates of Williamson Bhuvneshwar Kumar, David Warner and Rashid Khan also congratulated the 30-year-old hitter.
Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina also congratulated Williamson.
Williamson had given up on the second trial against the West Indies last week to be with his wife in Tauranga.
The prolific first-rate hitter had marked a double century in the first test against the West Indies. Williamson had scored 251 points to help his team secure a comfortable win with one inning and 134 points.
In the second round, Tom Latham took over the leadership role in Williamson’s absence and led the hosts to another big win that helped them sweep the two-game streak, 2-0.
Williamson will soon be seen in the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. He will lose the first T20I, but will return for the last two games.
