BPCL up 1%
The company said its board on Thursday will consider acquiring the Oman Oil Company in the Bina refinery project in Madhya Pradesh. The board of BPCL will also consider the merger with itself of Bharat Gas Resources Ltd (BGRL).

Prices of gold and silver rise
Gold and silver prices rose in India today following an overnight rally in global markets. On MCX, February Gold Futures Gained 0.26% ₹49,571 while silver futures rose 0.6% ₹65,230 per kg. In the previous session, the gold had jumped ₹530 or 1.1% for 10 grams while silver had increased by 2%.

The Nifty is slowly and steadily advancing towards the upper end of the index range which is 13400-13700. A serious move can only be expected after 13700 or if we break 13400 at the close. Good support for this market is found at 13400.

PNB down 7%
The state lender has set the minimum price for its QIP proposal ₹7,000 crore a ₹37.35 per share. The bank’s capital raising committee at a meeting authorized the opening of the QIP issue and approved the minimum price to ₹37.35 per share of capital. The bank may, at its discretion, offer a discount of no more than 5% on the base price.

The Adani Group sells part of its stake in Snowman Logistics
Adani Logistics Ltd, a part of the diversified Adani group, sold nearly a quarter of its stake in Snowman Logistics. Adani Logistics had acquired the stake through an open offer launched in March at ₹44 each in a failed attempt to take the promoter’s share in Snowman.

Lenders will sell up to ₹ 5,000 of distressed retail loans between January and March
As much as ₹5,000 crore of retail loans could be sold to troubled asset buyers by banks in the March quarter, three bankers aware of the matter told Mint. The severe economic recession has led to a surge in bad debts in this segment, which is considered safer than risky business loans.
Banks are eager to offload some of these unwanted assets as stress on the retail loan portfolio is mounting after the central bank’s payment moratorium ended on August 31. Banks cannot classify some of these accounts as impaired assets until the Supreme Court has issued a final interest waiver order.
