India vs Australia 2nd try to play 11, squad, player list: On Friday it was announced that Team India will play XI for the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohd Siraj are in the 11th game for the Boxing Day Test, starting Saturday.
Already 0-1 in the four-test series, India will face the mighty Australians in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli. Ajinkya Rahane’s team will have two rookies in the form of Shubman Gill and Mohd Siraj. While Wriddhiman Saha has been replaced by Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja is also returning to the side of the Test.

Prithvi Shaw’s opening ax was on the cards after he was eliminated by scores of 0 and 4 in two innings of the Opening Test in Adelaide. Shubman Gill’s languid approach and that extra second as he tackles fast bowling players, coupled with a much tighter technique from Prithvi Shaw, could give the locker room the confidence required in test times.
Gill will have the company of Mayank Agarwal, who would like to do an encore, if not better, than his performance in a venue where he made his testing debut.
Likewise, Rishabh Pant, whose intent always provides far more security than a passive Wriddhiman Saha, should play his fearless kind of cricket that is the need of the hour. Pant was an instant hit on the last tour in 2018-19 but in the last year he had lost both form and confidence to give up his place in the white ball formats.

Young workhorse Mohammed Siraj will intervene temporarily to fill the void created by the injury of the sly Mohammed Shami and talk about how Rahane, advertised as a bowler’s captain, will handle it.
