New Delhi The four-match Test series between India and Australia will start on December 17. The match will be day-night and for the first time a Test match between the two countries will be played day-night. Both teams are ready for the match, but before that former Australia captain Ricky Potting has selected his favorite playing XI which could prove to be the best team for the first Test match against India.
Ricky Ponting was a very successful captain and was known for his tough decisions. The team he has selected for the first Test includes Joe Burns as the opener. However, Joe’s performance was not good for Australia. He has suggested Matthew Wade as the second opener that David Werner will not play in the first Test.
Ponting has included Marnus Labushen and Steve Smith as mid-order batsmen. As Ponting said of B Burns, “I have a lot of messages and suggestions that Joe didn’t score too many runs and he shouldn’t get a place in the team.” He scored 40 in his last Test innings. He has scored four Test centuries and is averaging around 40, but I believe in him.
At the same time, he said of Matthew Wade, if he comes as an opener, this team will get a left-right combination. When Team India came here on the last tour, there were two left handers in the top order and this led to the dominance of Indian bowlers. I think it’s a little weird, but I want to go with it.
Ponting’s favorite playing XI for the first Test match against India
Matthew Wade, JB Burns, Marnus Lubushen, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Tim Payne, Pat Cummins, Michelle Stark, Jose Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon.
