The International Cricket Council released the test rankings on Tuesday. In the latest rankings, Indian captain Virat Kohli has reached the second position in the list of batsmen. Apart from the captain, the top-10 also includes vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. Australia Australia’s ruling batsman Steve Smith has continued to rule. He is currently the world’s number one Test batsman with 911 points. Second-ranked Kohli is down 25 points. At number three came Kiwi captain Ken Williamson. Young Australian batsman Marnus Labushen will injure fourth, Pakistan captain Babar Azam will injure fifth and sixth seed David Warner.

Cheteshwar Pujara is the seventh highest run scorer in the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The pride of Saurashtra has got 766 rating points. In Virat’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane is likely to captain the side for the remaining three matches. Rahane’s inclusion in the top-10 before taking on big responsibilities will be good for his confidence. Only two Indian bowlers have made it into the top-10. Fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah (779) is eighth and spin f-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (756) is tenth. Australian Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins is the best bowler in the world with 904 points. It is followed by England’s Stuart Broad and Kiwi fast bowler Neil Wagner.

Also in this list, two players of Team India have managed to get a place in the top-10. Ravindra Jadeja is third, followed by West Indies captain Jason Holder. Ashwin is sixth. In terms of team rankings, India has slipped to third place. New Zealand finished second with a sweep of the West Indies. Australia is the number one team in Australia with 116 rating points, New Zealand has the same number of points. India are two points behind both the teams i.e. 114 points. With a four-match Test series against Australia starting on Thursday, Team India has a golden opportunity to move up in the rankings.
