The CBI had charged the four accused with gangrape and murder in the alleged gangrape and torture of a Dalit girl in the Hathras case in Uttar Pradesh. The CBI, which is probing the case, had on Friday filed a chargesheet before a Hathras court. Accused Munna Singh Pundir told the counsel that the CBI had charged the four accused Sandeep, Lovekush, Ravi and Ramu with rape and murder. The prosecutor said that the CBI has also made allegations against the accused under the SC / ST Act.
On September 14, a 20-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped in Hathras. Four young men of the so-called upper caste were accused of raping the young woman. The victim died a few days later while undergoing treatment in Delhi. His funeral was held at Hathras late at night on September 30 in the presence of heavy police presence.
It was said that the police conducted the funeral of the deceased without the permission of the family. The police also faced a lot of criticism in this regard. However, officials said the funeral was “according to the wishes of the family.”
In October, the apex court said the Allahabad High Court would oversee the ongoing probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
