China continues to arrest and imprison Uyghurs despite international backlash, experts say

LONDON: The Communist Party of China did not even do small tweaks in its larger, nefarious program of systematic elimination Uyghur ethnic minority from his northwestern province of Xinjiang, Uyghur Muslims and experts who live in different parts of the world said.
Various testimonials emerging from the non-Chinese world reveal it Beijing it has in fact intensified its operations by hiring more people internment camps.
People who have managed to escape the tyranny say that all of their family members who have been left behind are now serving rigorous prison terms of 13 to 15 years.
Nursiman Abdureshid, a Uyghur Muslim who moved to Turkey after she couldn’t find a way to get a higher education in China, said her family was put behind bars for the simple reason that she managed to flee the country.
He hasn’t even spoken to a family member in over three years. “At that time I didn’t realize they were taken to concentration camps, but when I heard thousands of testimonies from people living abroad talking about their families, I started to worry. But I still don’t have any. information. In 2018, I received a message from the authorities that my family had been arrested. I continued to write to Chinese officials and human rights organizations, but they have not obtained any kind of information. In June 2020, I received a phone call from the Chinese Embassy in Turkey and they told me my family was in prison, ”Nursiman said while speaking at a virtual event organized by the Open Forum UK.
Although Nursiman’s father and mother have been sentenced to 16 and 13 years respectively, his two brothers will also serve a combined strict two-decade prison sentence.
She says that not only her, but thousands of children are left alone with their entire families locked up in internment camps. Another Uyghur MuslimRahime Mahmut, who has lived in the UK for the past two decades, said it was the rapidly growing violent atmosphere in the region that caused her to flee the country.
He said the authorities have always kept his family in check and now his brothers have been put behind bars.
Rahime Mahmut, project director, World Congress of Uyghurs in the UK, he said: “The disaster never stopped after the CCP occupied the region in 1949. They promised us autonomy in 1955 but it was never honored. But the situation really got worse after the movement. student. I haven’t been able to move to my country for the past two decades, but at least I was talking to my brothers and sisters. But one day it got cut off. The last conversation I had with my brother was in January 2017. Every single story in the region is more horrifying than the other. This is genocide. It has been going on since 2017 and is safe from the international community. ”
In addition to sending Uighurs to prisons, a systematic campaign has been launched to control the birth rate in the region. Experts say it is an alternative way of ethnic cleansing.
“Birth control or forced abortions, which aim to prevent an ethnic group’s population increase, continues and the evidence is there. It is also possible that the torture is being directed in a way that is intended to destroy Uyghurs in the region. “, said Michael Polak, a member of the executive committee of the human rights lawyers association.
He said that under the genocide convention, states can sue a state (China) saying the state is committing genocide and the international court of justice must make that decision.
However, he added, “Countries are reticent because of China’s economic weight. Islamic organizations have done very little. China is also putting pressure on states around the world not to comment on what is happening.”
The United States, he said, is the only country that has taken some substantial action against the Chinese. They placed restrictions on people involved in or supporting the crime against Uighurs.
Experts say the US could do this because it has more geopolitical weight than China. No other country has such power, therefore, it does not dare to endure the blatant and inhuman atrocities it has committed.
