Boxing Day: India’s 100th match against Australia – cricket

The iconic Boxing Day Test that kicks off at the Melbourne Cricket Ground here on Saturday will be India’s 100th match in the traditional format against Australia, BCCI said on Friday. The two countries first played a series of tests in 1947-48.

“#TeamIndia will play its 100th round against Australia when the teams face off in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the MCG, starting tomorrow,” tweeted the BCCI.

In the 99 tests, Australia won 43 times while India emerged victorious on 28 occasions. Twenty-seven matches were drawn and one match was drawn.

India have won three Boxing Day trials out of 13 games. Australia have won eight games while two have been drawn. Last time, India had recorded a 137-game win over Australia in 2018.

India are 0-1 behind in the ongoing four-game test series after losing their first match day / night by eight wickets. Visitors suffered the embarrassment of scoring the lowest 36 innings on the test in their second essay.

India have made four changes to the game XI, while Australia will field an unchanged team at the MCG.
