A new report now claims that Apple AirPods Pro “Lite” could be launched globally as early as 2021. Korean publication The Elec released a report in which they said Apple will launch the Lite version of the AirPods Pro wireless earphones without noise canceling functionality in the first half of 2021. relationship added that the South Korean materials supplier is currently developing an integrated system with the AirPods H1 chip.
According to the report, the system-in-package (SiP) used for the H1 chip in the Lite version will be a simple square, unlike that of the regular AirPods Pro, which is shaped like a mouse. A source familiar with the matter told the publication that the Lite version will be priced 20% cheaper than regular AirPods Pro.
According to the report, Apple had initially planned to launch the Lite version soon after the launch of the AirPods Pro in October last year, but the company canceled it as the AirPods Pro had a better market response than the Cupertino giant expected. .
The decision to relaunch the Lite version after a year was made to eventually increase sales of the AirPods series in general as well as accessories.
The report added that wireless earbuds sales increased 24% in the third quarter of this year from a year ago, adding that Apple’s AirPods series was the best-selling earphone in the third quarter with a market share of the 29%.
