Air India announces a 50% concession for seniors

The state-owned carrier Air India has announced a special program for seniors that offers a 50% reduction on the base fare and the scheme is only applicable to domestic flights and passengers over the age of 60 are eligible for the program.

According to the official website of Air India, the domestic carrier has established a criterion whereby only correspondent persons would be allowed to use the offer.

The offer clearly mentions that a senior citizen of Indian nationality, permanently resident in India and who should have reached the age of 60 on the travel start date.

A 50% discount is available on the “base fare on certain booking classes in Economy cabin”, as per the official text of the Air India offer.

Tickets must be purchased three days before the date of travel and the offer on the same will be valid for one year.

At the time of booking, any valid photo ID with birth date, such as voter ID, passport, driver’s license, Air India seniors ID card etc., will need to be provided to take advantage of the offer when booking your ticket.

However, in the event that ID or documents are not presented at check-in or at the boarding gate, the base fare will be forfeited and tickets will not be refundable, according to Air India only taxes and duties will be refunded website.

Boarding will be denied if ID is not provided at check-in and at the boarding gate, he added.

These concessions are applicable on Air India operated flights and Alliance Air codeshare flights. These concessions are not applicable on Alliance Air code-share flights for regional connectivity and on AirIndia Express domestic codeshare flights.
